The title of this sermon is A WORD OF PROVISION
This sermon is provided by Anthony Gardner

Sermon Topic: Activity of God
Sermon Synopsis: There are so many who show up to church every day without any expectancy whatsoever for what the word of God has for them. They are not willing to expect, experience, accept, approach, apprehend, believe, or activate the word of God to act for them.
Sermon Text:     A word of provision

Joshua 6:1 – 5

1 Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.

[Look at somebody right now and tell ‘em, “Just because the devil tries to shut you out of your blessing, does not mean that he will be successful.” Let me tell you right now, every door that the devil closes God will open 10 more in its place.] Read on.

2 And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.

The Hebrew being used here is ra'ah {raw-aw'}. To see, look at, inspect, perceive, consider. In another sense it is called (Qal), to have vision, learn about, observe, watch, look upon, find out, give attention to, discern, distinguish, gaze at. In another sense it is called (Niphal), to appear, present oneself, to be seen, to be visible. In another sense it is called (Pual) to be seen. In another sense it is called (Hiphil) to cause to see, show, to cause to look intently at, behold, cause to gaze at. In another sense it is referred to as being (Hophal) to be caused to see, be shown, to be exhibited to. And in another sense it is yielded (Hithpael) to look at each other, face. Why are all these important right here? Because God was doing them all at once for Joshua, amen. What God was causing Joshua to see was actually coming right at him; the very thing he was seeing was coming alive within him right there on the spot. God’s word comes alive; that is why the bible is different from any other book in the world. The words actually stand up off of the page and present themselves to you, so that you come actually face to face with what the word of God is saying to you, presenting to you, revealing to you, manifesting to you. Somebody gone get that when they get home, or get the tape, or even talk it over with somebody else who heard it. Let’s move on.
3 And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.

Somebody say, “Directive.” Somebody else say, “Instruction.” And somebody else say, “Obedience.” I don’t know if you’re ever heard this before, but you have to take the initiative to obey. It’s your choice to conform.

4 And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.

They keep telling me that the #7 has no significance. If that is the case, then here we have a great ironic twist being applied to the #7.
7 priests
7 trumpets
7th day
7 times

5 And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

They also keep telling me that opening my mouth and shouting has no great significance either. That it don’t take all of that. What brought the wall down? The obedience in shouting. Don’t keep silent if God has told you to shout. The psychiatrist that some of you might be seeing will even tell you that keeping things in will only lead to further destruction and decay of something you are supposed to be experiencing. Look at somebody and just tell ‘em, “I’m supposed to be experiencing what God says is for me.” Just in case they didn’t’ quite catch it, then tell ‘em again.

I came here today to tell you, especially and expressly, “There is a word from God for your provision.”

There is a word from the Lord, straight from the throne of grace, from the altar of The Most High.
Turn to your neighbor and tell ‘em that “it’s hot off the presses.”

I got a press release for you today.

What is that word of provision?

There is a word of provision for you faith
For your marriage
For your family
For your praise
For your worship
For your dedication
For your commitments
For your resiliency

For all of these things that lead you into a healthy, more productive place of worship in the Lord.

Somebody might look at you crazy if you were to ask them if their worship was productive; what kind of results is it producing in their circumstances?

If your worship is directed where it needs to be, towards God, then it will produce results on a spiritual level that will sustain you through all things.

The Psalmist said in Psalms 55:22, “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”

The writer said, Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
Surely His salvation is nigh
Surely He will deliver
Surely the righteous shall give thanks
Surely there is an end
Surely thou shall recover
Surely blessing I will bless thee
Surely I come quickly

It’s sure, it’s sure, it’s sure.

Turn to your left and tell somebody, “A new avenue of praise for you is coming.”
Now turn to your right and tell ‘em the same thing, “A new avenue of praise for you is coming.”

Let me ask this right here:

Is there anybody out there who came expecting a move of God who is already experiencing a breakthrough in Jesus? If you have a spirit of expectancy, then just wave your hands right now in the face of all adversity, in the face of any kind of calamity. And while you do that just began to say, “I got a right, I got a right, He told me, and I got a right.” You have to experience the presence of God for it to be effective. Paul said in Ephesians 3:7 that this kind of grace was given unto him by the effectual working of His power. God’s power is supernatural and therefore it is able to supersede any of your expectations. Ephesians 3:20 declares that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above that we could ask or think. What can you believe God for right now? The impossible? The improbable? The influential? The answer to any of your problems?

Is there anybody here today who came with a spirit of acceptance, and thereby right now you are activating the word of God to act for you? Oh ya’ll don’t hear me in here. If you are one of those who right now are activating the word to stir in your life, to stir in your situation, to move over your condition, to break through your circumstance, then just lift up your voice and shout your praises to Lord. Touch your neighbor and tell ‘em “you gone have to accept it if you want to activate it.” Somebody might be taking baby steps in their faith but your problem is dictating that you take leaps and bounds towards what God is offering you. Did you catch that?

Is there anybody out there approaching today unto the Lord and His presence in hopes of what He has told you is already available and prepared for you, so that you may apprehend those great and precious promises that 2 Peter 1:4 talked about? If so then just touch your neighbor, not hard enough to make ‘em mad but just enough to get their attention, and tell ‘em, “it’s yours if you want it. He’ll fix it if you let Him.” The word of God says in Psalms 65:4, “Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.” Somebody ought to shout right there because you been chosen to approach; you been chosen to be satisfied with the things of God. David said in Psalms 17:15, “I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.” Is there anyone here wanting that kind of likeness that says, I belong to Jesus Christ? Do you want Jesus radiating from you wherever you go? David said he wouldn’t be satisfied until he had that kind of character and conduct. Somebody right now ought to say, “Holiness.”

Or better yet, all of those who are believing of the word of God to do something mighty, something marvelous, something miraculous, something extraordinary ought to just shout right now, song writer said you ain’t got to wait till the battle is over. Because if you are believing of the word of God then you have already authorized the word of God to work for you. Ya’ll still don’t heart me do you; 1 Thess. 2:13 says, “when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.” If you’re received this word that I’m speaking as the word of God then you ought to feel it working in you right now. Envision the word working in and for you; see it, come in contact with it, experience it. Don’t quench the Spirit. I just need somebody right now to respond like they hear what the Spirit is saying. If I just had one somebody who was on fire for the Lord, if I just had somebody to remember what Psalms 91:7 said, “A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; [but] it shall not come nigh thee.” Now if we could get a few more who believed that Jesus is a quickening Spirit and that He speaks a quickening word. Then we could tell ‘em what Leviticus 26:8 says, “And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.” Collectively, corporately, we could give the devil a fight for his money, do you know what I’m saying church. WE WIN ALREADY!!!

Listen to me church:

I came to incite a riot for Jesus!!!
In the same place the devil has created chaos and initiated panic and afflicted turmoil in the camp.

Incite meaning to urge or stir up.

Riot in the sense that I am talking about is the throwing off of all restraint.

You ought to just shake it off right now; whatever could be hindering you or infringing on your joy, just let it go right now.
Somebody’s bound and don’t have to be.

Somebody might be on the verge of panic because of their condition and I came to tell you that you don’t have to.

Look at somebody and tell them, “This is your day to come out. This is your day to be delivered and set free. This is your day to walk in release.”

Look at ‘em again and tell ‘em “you don’t have to be enslaved to the enemies devices.”

If they have this questioning look on their faces like they might be wondering how you know this, then just tell ‘em like the Wonderful Harmonizer’s of Huntsville Texas used to say, it’s right there in the word of God. But I got a scripture that will certainly let you know and see it for yourself, Isaiah 10:27, “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”

Somebody say, “because of the anointing.”
Say it again, “because of the anointing.”

God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul in Acts 19:11 – 12, does anybody need a special miracle today?
Well if He did it for those in Ephesus then He can do it for you here today.

In Acts 5:14 – 16, the church got together and began expecting a mighty move of God, “are we expecting today?” The word says that soon they were believing God for the impossible, they brought the sick and oppressed into the streets that at the passing of the Shadow of Peter, they might be healed and set free. Does anyone won’t to be set free today? We might not be in the streets today, but there are these isles in the church and if you can expect God for a miracle and a blessing then you just might have to come out of those pews and into the isles and do like Ananias told Paul in Acts 22:16, “And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.”

You can go to your grave with cancer; you can go to your grave with aids; you can go to your grave with epilepsy; you can go to your grave with Alzheimer’s; but you don’t have to go to your grave with sin. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Romans 10:10 says, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Acknowledging where you are is simply put, “letting God know how far He has to come to get you.”
If you were out at sea and you needed a life line and you had the chance to give the coast guards your location and coordinates you would not withhold vital information but you would be totally forthcoming. Some of us need to just start being a little more forth coming.

The gulf between you and God, you and your kids, you and the church, you and your spouse, you and your friends, just might be because of you.
Isaiah 59:2, “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”

You might be waiting on the things of God that you heard the preacher talking to you about but you can’t and won’t have the blessings of God walking in a way that is unpleasing to Him, Jeremiah 5:25, “Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.” If you want to have fellowship with God then you need a relationship with Jesus through the Holy Ghost. You can’t have one without the other, they are connected.

David said in Psalms 51:2 – 3, “Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.”

You have to want to be clean. So many are still asking those rudimentary questions, thinking they can get the preacher to slip and give them access to sin. “Pastor is it wrong to drink; is it wrong to go on blind dates?” When did God ever send you into something without warning you about it 1st? Come on now, you know what I’m talking about.

Whatever you’re going through today, God is able to turn your situation around, the question is, “have you retch your turning point?”

Somebody might be experiencing turmoil from the enemy because your resistance level ain’t where it needs to be.
The word says in James 4:7, “…resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
The application of the word is vital for our survival in the ministry.
If we see it in the word, then we can do it today.
Look at your neighbor and simply tell them, “start applying the word of God to your life in a very real sense.”
If you’re having trouble with the enemy entering into your home, prepare yourself for a fight and go ahead and get down in the trenches, in the bunkers.

Listen to what the Lord told Hezekiah in Isaiah 37:33 – 35 when the enemy was threatening the city that God had put His name in. “He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shields, nor cast a bank against it. 34 By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the Lord. 35 For I will defend this city to save it for mine own sake.”

The word says in Isaiah 8:10, “Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.”

Now that is some good word, who wouldn’t want to apply that kind of a word to their lives?

There is a process in being victorious, most of the time we just don’t like the process.

This kind of a process involves several aspects of the word:

1. Prayer
2. Fasting
3. Purging, Psalms 51:7, “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”
4. Creating and restoring, Psalms 51:10 – 12, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. 12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.”
5. Submission
6. Submersion
7. Surrendering
8. Humbling
9. Searching, Psalms 139:23 – 24, “23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
10. Examining, Psalms 26:2, “Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.” 2 Corinthians 13:5 [Amplified version], “Examine and test and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves [not Christ]. Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever – increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you – unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected?”
11. Stripping
12. Breaking
13. Tearing
14. Trying
15. Tribulation
16. Distress
17. Hurt
18. Pain
19. Anguish
20. Affliction
21. Going through

I can sum a couple of these up through using James 4:7 – 10, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”

Now I’m about to say something that everybody might not like or agree with, but these are God’s words and not mine so I can say them with a clear conscious.

This kind of process involves proof.

1. Romans 12:2, “that ye may prove that which is good.”
2. 2 Corinthians 8:8, “prove the sincerity of your love.”
3. 2 Corinthians 13:5, “prove your ownselves.”
4. Galatians 6:4, “let every man prove his own work.”
5. 1Thessalonians 5:21, “prove all things.”
6. 1 Timothy 3:10, “and let these first be proved.”
7. 2 Timothy 4:5, “make full proof of thy ministry.”

And this is just a couple saints; just enough to prove my point. ☺

And I give this to you like this for the same reason that Paul said in Acts 20:29 – 30, “after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.”

Why is this so important to the flock of Christ?
Because the devil doesn’t want you conforming to holiness.
He wants to change the image of God that you see, in order to deter you from conforming to His image.
Romans 1:19 – 23, vs. 23, “and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.”
2 Thessalonians 2:3 – 4, “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”

Some questions that people ask aren’t about holiness, they are about the amount of leeway that you can have.
The word of God says that you can’t serve 2 masters, no matter which way you look at it or try to break it down.

You have to remember to whom you were called; and by whom you were called.
Paul said this to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:14, “But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them.”

Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 4:7, “For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.”

You’re different for a reason. You’ve been changed for a reason. There is a purpose to you being transformed, the word said, “to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
1. You’re no longer in bondage. Galatians 5:1, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”
2. You no longer practice sin. 1 John 3:4 – 10, vs. 9, “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”
3. You’re here for an example of what holiness truly is. Leviticus 10:10, “and that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean.” James 4:17, “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”
4. You are here to let the world know that God is still filling His people with the Holy Ghost.
a) John 14:26, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
b) Acts 2:38 – 39, “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
c) Acts 10:44 – 48, vs. 44 – 46, “While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. ”

For there to be an absence of the Holy Ghost in your life and you yet accomplish the work that the Lord has for you is neither feasible nor plausible; because how can you be kept without a keeper? And how can you be instructed without an instructor?
1 Corinthians 2:12 – 13, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”

When you do it God’s way, you will always come out as the victor.
There are Godly methods that will produce Godly results.

THE METHOD:
Psalms 51:17, “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.”
THE RESULT:
Isaiah 57:15, “I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”

Somebody needs a revival, is there anybody here like that, who needs reviving?
You might need reviving in your faith, your marriage, your love for the Lord and for people, revival in your ministry.
Revival is for those who have grown weak, or tired, or weary.
Revival ain’t simply for the lost; the majority of the time it is for the saints.
You may have lost your zealousness for the Lord, but don’t be discouraged, because revival is here.

THE METHOD:
Isaiah 58:5, “Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the Lord?”
THE RESULT:
Isaiah 58:6 – 14, “Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?”

Do you know what praise will do for your outcome?

Listen to this example in 2 Chronicles 20:2 – 4, 22, “2 Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazon-tamar, which is En-gedi. 3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 4 And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the Lord: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord.
22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.”

Now I believe we all have experienced the kind of opposition that leads you to pray.

But listen to this:

Have you every experienced the kind
That led you to praise?

Prayer and praise are the receipts for victory and success.
You are not a victim to your circumstance; you are a victor with a new level of resistance, who yet praises. Psalms 44:17 – 18, “All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant. Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way.”

We are instructed to praise, Psalms 113:3, “From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised.” It didn’t say because of your circumstance you have a pass on praising Me today. No, the word of God dealt you out a time and a place to praise Him. Whenever the need arises, or the anointing falls. Another Psalmist said that 7 times a day did he praise the Lord.

Practicing the word of God is an attribute that I believe most saints are negligent of. The word of God will produce results if you put it into action in your life and allow it to have free course.
What we know about God is that He wants to be glorified.
Your praise glorifies Him.
Your worship glorifies Him.
Your life style glorifies Him.
Your outcome glorifies Him.
Your deliverance glorifies Him.
He wants you set free; He wants you to come out of your trouble; He wants you to be victorious. These things will cause Him to be glorified.
Psalms 50:15, “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”

He just doesn’t want us to forget that it was Him who did it, once we do come out and enter into our promise.
Deuteronomy 8:11 – 20

There is power in prayer; there is power in praise; there is power in rejoicing.

You ought to find 3 people and tell ‘em “Don’t you forget to praise Him.”

Psalmist said in Psalms 22:3, “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.”
God inhabits the praises of His people; you ought to praise Him for all that He has done for you.

Did you know that where Jesus is present, there is power present?
Luke 5:17 says, “And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.”

There were several key factors in play here:
1. there were Pharisees present
2. there were doctors of the law present
3. they had come out of Galilee
4. they had come out of Judaea
5. they had come out of Jerusalem

Now what’s interesting is that “the power” of God was present, as stated in Acts 10:38 “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.”

And the power of God was present “TO HEAL THEM.”

Who was it present to heal?

→ THEM ←

What most people look over in this scripture is that there was “divine power” present, in the room, in the vicinity, in the area, right there; with them, among them, around them, for them.

The Greek for heal in this verse has several objectives in use; objective referring to the intent of why it was present.

It was there to cure, heal, to make whole, and to free from errors and sins, to bring about (one's) salvation.

“Present to” meaning in the correct Greek form and usage that this is an act that was already being committed for them, towards them, to them, before they actually arrived.

Tell somebody, “God was ready to bless you before you got here. God was ready to heal you, deliver you, and set you free before you actually arrived and got here.”

How many times has the word of God been available and we didn’t even know or realize it?

Did these Pharisees and doctors of the law believe or even notice that they needed this kind of healing?

God will and can be present in your every day lives if you let Him be.
That’s why we worship towards God, every day, so that He will be present, at hand, for us.

I hope today that the word of God has been a blessing for you.

Remember what the word of the Lord says in Psalms 132:14 – 16, “This [is] my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it. I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread. I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.”

Also remember Romans 13:14, “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to [fulfil] the lusts [thereof].”

Just nudge your neighbor one more time, I know somebody saying that the Pastor is being very physical today ☺, but just nudge your neighbor and tell ‘em one more time, “Get what God has for you.”
There is provision for you today in the Lord’s storehouse.

Apply the word of God, and it will never come back without making some kind of impact on and in your life.
Isaiah 55:11, “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper [in the thing] whereto I sent it.”

May God richly bless you!!!

Now won’t you come today…come and let God restore you…come and let God revive you…come and give your life, your circumstance, your condition, your situation to somebody who can actually do something about it…won’t you come…Jesus is knocking…won’t you let Him come in today…

A WORD OF PROVISION
