Non-denominational church name: The Journey Church From the church pastor: " If you think about it, we are all on some sort of spiritual journey, whether we realize it or not! The Journey Church began in the Spring of 2007 to help people move along their personal, spiritual journeys so that they might know, love, and serve God like never before. We believe in order for this to take place, church should be something to be enjoyed, not something to be endured. That's why we've adopted the motto: CASUAL ENVIRONMENT, SERIOUS FAITH. So come as you are! You'll enjoy an upbeat worship style as you sip a cup of coffee and meet new friends along this journey called "life"! Our Mission - The Journey Church exists to help people everywhere encounter God through Jesus Christ, experience life-change through the teachings of the Bible, and to engage in mission through meaningful local and global ministry. The Journey Church is in partnership with the Southern Baptist Convention and other like-minded Christian organizations. Our Leadership - Dr. Michael P. O'Carroll is the founding pastor of The Journey Church. Mike has previously served in full-time ministry as an international missionary, Bible college instructor, minister of education, church planter, and pastor. He is a graduate of the University of South Florida, Luther Rice Seminary, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mike and Sue have been married since 1978 and have been blessed with six great kids and two awesome daughter-in-laws! Our church is very active with local ministries within the community of Newberry and Gainesville as well as missionary work overseas, so if you have an interest in volunteering or missionary work you will surely find an area of interest. We offer many small bible study groups that cover an array of topics so that you will have a variety to choose from. We have a great youth group as well, so if you have children they would have a blast attending the youth activities, such as, surfing retreats, paintball outings, movie nights, etc... Nursery services are available every Sunday morning. We would love to meet you and get to know you so please feel free to attend a service and meet everyone. KIDMO Children's Church - Children through 5th grade will enjoy and learn from the fast-paced and exciting KIDMO program during the regular worship service. Journey Youth - Middle School and High School students meet each Wednesday @ 5:30 pm for fun, food, fellowship, and faith lessons. Journey Youth also enjoy frequent, special events including concerts, retreats, sports and more! Journey College and Career Age - Young adults enjoy meeting every Wednesday at 8:00pm at Starbucks Tioga Town Center (west Newberry Road). Join this vibrant group for your favorite beverage, warm fellowship, and meaningful Bible study! Journey Small Groups - Small groups meet weekly or bi-weekly for a variety of Bible study topics.
